A Word From Lisa

Hello everyone,

It is an exciting time here at The Great Australian Cancer Bush Walk HQ.  We are right in the thick of the action centre turning Michael's dream into reality…and we are enjoying every moment of it. 

I have the pleasure of being the Project Director, leading the core project team and its growing team of volunteers.

What's happening?

After a group of people formed to make a core project team, on the 5^th May 2008, we launched Michael on his way from Cape York FNQ.  Michael is now in Laura (23^rd June 2008) and preparing with the support crew for the next six weeks as contact will be limited.  People are kindly stopping Michael and giving donations on the road which are greatly appreciated. 

Back at HQ the project team is passionately caught up supporting Michael to raise $1M and how it will help so many of our fellow Australians.

The project meetings keep us focused and forging ahead towards the major goal.  It is at these meetings Michael and I can clearly see many, many people's lives being enhanced and changed by the event.

The team of experts and volunteers to support Michael on his journey include;

■ Marketing, Media and Business development professionals
■ Project Managers with specific expertise in logistics and client sponsorship contract management,
■ Project team members and Administration support
■ Health & Fitness Professionals ensuring Michael is prepared for his trip and supporting him along the walk stages.
■ Legal and Finance Experts
■ A variety of suppliers to provide the necessary items. I.e. transport, clothing and camping equipment etc.

AND the all important on the road support crew made up of drivers, medical reps and navigators.

Many of you have asked what can you do to help. The following are the priorities where every offer of assistance is welcomed and we look forward to hearing from you.
Fancy a virtually free holiday in this beautiful land of ours where you can help many fellow Australians at the same time?

·       Drivers with experience of four-wheel bush driving - be sponsored per KM with Michael,

·      Fancy a walk? Get sponsorship and join Michael on the walk (approx 8 per group) and;

·      Are you a paramedic, fire/policeperson, doctor, nurse, first aider and fancy a bit of a break virtually for free?  It would be great to have further people around along the route who can administer first aid if required.
