Michael started his trip on the 5th May from Cape York as planned. He is now walking towards the $1M and home over a 13-month period.  To date he has completed 3 months and 2000Kms hard walking and right now, he is 10 days ahead of schedule. Plus Pty Ltd who provided a SPOT GPS Emergency Tracker system. This enables us to keep in touch with Michael on daily basis.  Not only does this give Marg, Michaels wife, and Lisa, peace of mind it keeps costs down. The key component of this service is the emergency tracking system. This is used at the touch of a button, the Australian HQ Search and Rescue are alerted, and a team is deployed to Michael and/or the support team.  Amazingly, the SPOT had only been in Australia for six weeks and saved two lives, in Tasmania and Queensland. Thank goodness for the SPOT Emergency GPS Tracker. As you can imagine we have a back plan to back up the back up plan when it comes to communications. This means we have three systems in place with the Telstra phones to enable efficient and reliable communication no matter the area Michael is walking in...This can be pretty 'out there' at times.
